2018 at PAL

We’re having a great year. We started January with I Have a Dream, which featured readings by local and national writers who provided contemporary contexts to Dr. King’s iconic speech. We were pleased to include works by noted children’s author such as Michele Bisson, and screenwriter and producer Tom Huckabee, as well Page County writers Jack Greer, Cathy Herbert, Don Liscomb, Robin Millstone, Jas Rutt, and Paul Woods. Readers included Carrie Campbell, Bonnie Anthony, Layne Vickers, and Jamie Rushing. The organizing committee for this event was Bonnie Anthony, Carrie Campbell, Cathy Herbert, and Jamie Rushing.

Our annual fundraising gala in February provided an evening of entertainment by Shenandoah Unlimited, featuring JMU professor Paul Ackerman, recently retired member of the National Symphony David Howard, internationally recognized guitarist Christopher Jenkins, vocalist Dian Rene who trained in Cuba and recently emigrated to the US, and popular regional soprano Julia Verba. We thank all who supported the gala–we raised enough funds to complete the installation of our new lighting system, being installed now.

We also featured an evening of great music by The Art of Sound, a group comprised of three exceptionally talented high school students.

And PAL was one of the anchor venues for the Festival of the Arts in Downtown Luray, VA. This event showcased work by more than 100 artists, artisans, musicians, and performers. It highlighted the creativity of our community. PAL looks forward to future collaborations with the Page Valley Arts Council, which put on this event.
